Ahí estaba yo, 26 de septiembre; y en la cama temprano, porque estaba resfriada y no me encontraba muy bien. Estaba hojeando el móvil para matar el tiempo y de repente mi ojo ve un post en Facebook de mi querido Festival de Jerez 2024. ¿Qué estoy leyendo? ¿Mañana será el programa de los espectáculos? No, no puede ser verdad, ¿tan pronto? Acabo de recibir mi entrada para el taller de Ángel Muñoz desde principios de este mes y ¿ahora ya viene el programa de espectáculos? Normalmente eso es mucho más tarde en el año y por eso me senté de repente en mi cama. Porque sí, uno se puede sentir mal, pero si hay buenas noticias sobre el Festival de Jerez, ¡¡¡de repente una se cura!!! Al menos yo, jajajajaja… 😉

Y así, al día siguiente (por suerte no tenía que trabajar), me pasé toda la mañana consultando la web de los Cursos del Festival de Jerez 2024. Y síiii, sobre las 13:30, ¡¡¡estaba ahí!!! Como en los últimos años ha habido espectáculos menos interesantes para mí en el programa, me sorprendió gratamente que ahora hay un montón de actuaciones programadas a mi gusto. Incluso tanto, que en lugar de la estancia prevista en la segunda semana, ¡ahora probablemente iré una semana antes y estaré presente durante todo el festival! Porque síiii, claro… sólo hay fiesta flamenca de verdad una vez al año. 😉 El comienzo con Sara Baras ya es un acto de primera para mí y luego en la semana segunda también veo una estrella en ascenso llamado Juan Tomás de la Molía. Este bailarín me interesa desde hace unos años y estaba en mi lista de deseos verle. Así que estoy muy contenta. También una bailarina que desgraciadamente no pude ver hace unos años y a la que ahora por fin puedo admirar: Mercedes de Córdoba. Durante el periodo Covid-19 tuve más de 100 clases online, entre ellas una clase con sombrero de Francisco Hidalgo. Aún no conocía a este bailarín y por eso es muy divertido poder verlo ahora en directo. Además, por supuesto, mis favoritos de siempre Alfonso Losa y Úrsula López. También estoy deseando ver a José Maldonado y La Lupi. Y … Voy a ver a mi dulce y genial profesora online Beatriz Morales. Oh bueno, podría seguir y seguir, porque hay tantos nombres que realizan grandes cosas en el escenario. Todos se merecen un premio – simplemente porque nos miman mucho con su arte increíble. A una le gusta lo puro y al otro lo moderno, pero cada uno consigue lo que quiere. En cualquier caso, ahora todo empieza bien: ¡ya podemos esperar a 2024, cuando algunos de nosotros estemos cansados del frío invierno y podamos ir al cálido Jerez de la Frontera en febrero! Qué privilegio y qué adicción. Porque sí, volvemos todos los años. Por la ciudad y los vecinos que nos acogen tan calurosamente y nos llevan en su corazón. Qué mejor que estar juntos con la música, el cante y el baile que tanto nos llega al corazón. ¡Viva Jerez, viva el Festival de Jerez! ¡Hasta pronto!

There I was, September 26th; and in bed early, because I had a cold and wasn’t feeling very well. I was scrolling through my phone to kill time and suddenly my eye sees a post on Facebook from my beloved Festival de Jerez 2024. What am I reading? Tomorrow will be the program of the espectáculos? No, that can’t be true, can it? that early?? I have only just received my entrance ticket for Angel Muñoz’s workshop since the beginning of this month and now the program of performances is already coming up? Normally that is much later in the year and so I suddenly sat up in my bed. Because yes, you can feel sick, but if there is good news about Festival de Jerez, one is suddenly cured!! At least I am, jajajajaja… 😉

And so the next day (luckily I didn’t have to work), I spent the entire morning checking the Festival’s website. And yesss, around 1:30 PM, it was there!!! Because there have been less interesting shows on the program for me in recent years, I was pleasantly surprised that there are now a lot of performances programmed to my taste. Even so much, that instead of the planned staying in week 2, I will now probably go 1 week earlier and be present for the entire festival! Because siiii, claro… there is only a real flamenco party once a year. 😉 The kick-off with Sara Baras is already a top act for me and then in week 2 I also see a rising star named ‘Juan Tomás de la Molía’. I have my interest for this dancer for a few years now and it was on my wish-list to see him. So I’m over-happy!! Also a dancer who I unfortunately could not see a few years ago and whom I can now finally admire: Mercedes de Cordoba. During the Covid-19 period I had over 100 online classes, including una clase con sombrero by Francisco Hidalgo. I didn’t know this dancer yet and so it is extra fun to be able to see him live now. Furthermore, of course, my all-time favorites Alfonso Losa and Ursula Lopez. I’m also looking forward to Jose Maldonado and La Lupi. And … I’m going to see my sweet & so cool online teacher Beatriz Morales! Oh well, I could go on and on, because there are so many names who perform great things on stage. Everyone deserves a feather – simply because they spoil us so much with their amazing art. And one likes puro and the other likes modern, but everyone gets what they want. In any case, it’s off to a good start now: we can look forward to 2024, when some of us will be tired of the cold winter and can go to warm Jerez de la Frontera in February!! What a privilege that is and what an addiction. Because yes, we come back every year. To the city and the residents who welcome us so warmly and take us to their hearts. What could be a better than be together with the music, singing and dance that so touches our hearts. Viva Jerez, viva Festival de Jerez! See you soon!
